About:
A collaboration between myself and Emilie Finney Ahern for Art In Odd Places: Orlando (Tone). This sound installation integrated sampled, found-sounds into an abstracted score. 12 minutes represented Downtown Orlando during the daytime and 12 minutes for the night.
Every urban setting is steeped in tone, melody, and rhythm – you just have to pay attention to hear it. Listen to the full piece here.
Production Notes:
This piece really surprised me…both the experience of making it and the 24-minute soundscape that came out of it. I got to hear Orlando’s downtown differently from my typical nights after concerts or shows. With a trusty Zoom recorder and the downtown Public library as homebase, I set out to log easily identifiable and personal sounds from various locations. Hours of audio editing and layering with Emilie rendered a sculpted city-wide symphony.
